‘NEW PLUNGE’ REPLACES OLD FASHIONED PLUNGER'
The days of the plunger occupying space near toilets may soon be a thing of the past. S&K Manufacturing, a St. Louis-based company, has redesigned what we’ve known as a toilet plunger and made it sleek, efficient, and easy to clean.
Clean? Yes, that’s right.
“Very few people would go to the trouble to clean an old-fashioned suction-based plunger,” said David McClaskey, president of S&K. “But our new New Plunge cleans in an instant and takes up virtually no room in bathrooms and restrooms.”
S&K’s New Plunge is simply a straight piece of flexible acrylic that extends into the toilet. Using the same motion as with an old fashioned plunger, the New Plunge easily breaks up a clog and allows a toilet to run freely again.
The best part is, the toilet water does not slosh out like with old-style plungers. When used correctly, the toilet area does not create an unsanitary environment – but stays dry and clean.
“The New Plunge is simply more sanitary,” McClaskey said. “It’s so easy to use, a child can do it without help from an adult.”
In addition, the New Plunge is easy to clean after each use. Simply use bathroom tissue and run it down the length of the New Plunge, then flush the tissue away. The New Plunge can be hung out of the way – and out of sight - until it’s next needed.
Perhaps even more to the liking of consumers is the price. “Old style plungers cost from $6 to $30 each,” McClaskey said. “Our New Plunge has a suggested retail price of only $4. For some families, that means they can have a New Plunge next to every toilet in the house for about what they’d pay for just one medium priced plunger.”
The final step in creating the New Plunge, McClaskey said, was overcoming the “ugliness” of the plunger.
“In all honesty, I’ve never seen a plunger that was pretty,” McClaskey said. “Plungers are generally dark brown or black and unless it’s brand new, you really don’t want to touch the rubberized area.”
The New Plunge has done away with that rubberized design.
“We make the New Plunge in various colors – with the hope of meeting with bathroom décor schemes,” McClaskey said. “What’s more, it’s a thin piece of acrylic that can be hung behind or to the side of the toilet, completely out of sight.”
The New Plunge has been gaining immediate acceptance throughout the country. While holders for plungers have been made more attractive in past years, the problem has been that after the plungers are used, residue of dirty toilet water builds up in the holders.
“Let’s be honest. No one wants nasty toilet water accumulating in plunger holders,” McClaskey said. “The New Plunge is taking that nasty box out of bathrooms.”
After a quick clean – which takes less than five seconds – the New Plunge is replaced to its holder, completely dry.
